Welcome to our tutorial on Trillian! This easy-to-use guide provides step-by-step directions on how to set-up your new IM client.
Following installation, Trillian will launch on the desktop for the first time, prompting users to set up the application before it can be used. Users must first choose which version of the application they will be using; "Trillian Basic" is the free client while "Trillian Pro" requires a paid membership.

Building an Identity
Next, users must enter information that will be used to build an identity on the Trillian network.First, users must choose a nickname they would like to be identified by throughout Trillian's software. This handle will not interfere with or change any identity users have created on any instant messenger client, but rather as how users wish to be addressed by Trillian.
Second, users must choose an icon they wish to be identifyed by; a list of pre-packaged icons can be chosen or users can choose another graphic by clicking "Browse for more pictures," and selecting a photo from their computer.
Clicking "next" following these prompts will move users to the next step.
Choosing IM Clients
After choosing an identity, users must choose which IM clients they would like to access with Trillian.Users have the option of accessing buddies on:
- AOL Instant Messenger
- ICQ
- Jabber
- Windows Live Messenger (MSN)
- Rendezvous
- and Yahoo! Messenger.
After selecting these clients, clicking "next" will move users to the next step.
Completing Set-Up
Trillian set-up is now complete. Clicking "Ok" will allow users to proceed to and use the Trillian application.Launching Trillian
Upon completion of set-up, Trillian will launch on the desktop.Additionally, a desktop shortcut will be established. Double-clicking this icon will launch Trillian in the future.
Users can remove the desktop shortcut by clicking and dragging the icon to your recycle box. Users can access Trillian in the future through the "start" menu, scrolling the cursor down to "all programs," and selecting "Trillian" in the drop-down menu.
