Despite the protests we received last year (remember, every vote counts and Yahoo! won this fair and square!), I thought this year we might actually dive into why Yahoo! Messenger for Mac has such a strong base of support from fans, and it comes down to one single thing: excitement.
What I Love About Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0
A better comparison would be Yahoo! Messenger for Mac versus AIM for Mac or Windows Messenger for Mac.
In the comparison test against other Mac single protocol IMs, nobody can deny the fact that Yahoo! is and has been clearly better for quite some time, total users notwithstanding.
From its sleek design and user interface, to its customizable set of plugins, plus full access to many features you'll find on Adium, Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0 builds an exciting platform from which thousands of Mac users can IM friends on both Yahoo! and Windows Live Messenger.
While Yahoo! Messenger on Windows has issues and bugs that will always need to be addressed (that's the price of progress!), the similarities in terms of efficiency on Mac are few. My tests of this IM client exceed all necessary expectations for how an IM should perform.
Compared to AIM and Messenger for Mac, Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0 is just simply more fun to use, and users benefit from the developer's careful attention to detail to the user experience.
This client leaves the other single-protocol Mac clients in the dust, and therefore, I believe the readers in this year's survey have identified a real winner in Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0.
