Every once in awhile, as I surf Facebook, I will decide I don’t want to be bothered by a bevy of IMs from contacts at that time; whether you are trying to avoid talking to a certain online friend or you simply want to enjoy Facebook without having to return a million IMs at that time, here is an easy way to keep on Facebook without having the endure Facebook Chat.
Going Offline in Facebook Chat
The first step in going offline is to locate the bust silhouette tab on the bottom right hand corner of Facebook. Clicking this tab will open the Facebook Chat application window. Next, click the link titled “Go Offline.” At this point, a red bubble will appear indicating you are now offline on Facebook Chat and unable to be seen online or receive messages from contacts at that time.Once you have gone offline, this feature will remain offline even if you end your session and return later.
