From the article: Uproar Over Adware Threatens Digsby IM’s Popularity
Eight months after announcing the need to investigate new ways to fund the Digsby IM client, Digsby users are outraged at the company's addition of adware. Do you think Digsby adware is appropriate to support the company's development or intrusive? Share your thoughts about Digsby adware. Do You Support Digsby IM?
I was 2 fast, but not read the title...
- Spyware? Adware? If they Add them and Use them in "appropriate way" and it's still FREE, I can accept. But if They just want to collect data / Use my pc / laptop to another function / goal / else, hey.. I Cant Accept! I better going to Text Messenger which is still free and no Adware or Spyware or else... Please Digsby... ...

Hey now!
- I love Digsby and I support what they are doing. It is NOT spyware and Digsby has been upfront and honest about it from the start. People who complain about this optional module obviously have no clue about the commercial software world and their exploits...

Misinformation
- This is 100% incorrect. Please read this: http://wiki.digsby.com/doku.php?id=cpuusage The research module does NOT collect any information about Digsby users. It does not even have access to your hard drive and it does not affect your computer's performance in any way.

Digsby Spyware Shouldn't Surprise
- While I support Digsby's pursuit of keeping Digsby IM free for all users, I am also not surprised about the addition of Digsby spyware. Look at Google and Facebook and a host of others who use similar spyware techniques. In 2009, on the Internet, spyware is everywhere. It just so happens to be on Digsby now. Am I happy about it? No. But, then again, Digsby gave plenty of warning to its users in December via the Digsby blog.

Digsby Spyware is Stupid!
- I loved Digsby until they added that spyware! Why would anyone even want to add Digsby now that is goes through your personal information! I work hard to remove spyware on my computer already and now I learn Digsby had it on my computer all along? Ugh!!!!
