With as little as your Blackberry or access to an IM client, U.S. diners will soon be able to map out local restaurants and real-time available reservations with a new feature offered by Poynt Local Search.
Integrating OpenTable, a reservation and guest management application for restaurants, with their localized search engine popular with AIM and Windows Live Messenger users, Poynt parent company Multiplied Media Corporation, of Calgary, is expected to roll out the feature for Blackberry users during the first quarter of 2009.
The addition, Multiplied Media CEO Andrew Osis said, will help time-crunched consumers make the most efficient choices for dining in the neighborhood or wherever Poynt users are in the U.S.
The agreement between OpenTable and Multiplied Media contemplates shared revenue from seated reservations booked through Poynt.
The feature is expected to be available for AIM and Windows Live Messenger users sometime during 2009, Osis said.
