In order to use this free webcam chat, users must have the latest update of your web browser. AV by AIM supports Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Safari only. All other web browsers will not work with AV by AIM.

If your web browser is unable to access the service, update your web browser by visiting the following sites, downloading and installing the latest version:

Issue: AV By AIM Says I Need Flash 10.3 Beta
The Flash 10.3 Beta is needed to support the video chat functions of AV by AIM. When attempting to connect your computer, the site will automatically attempt to install (with your permission) a fresh copy of the software. Flash 10.3 beta is free and takes seconds to install.

If you exited the site before the installation could begin, you can download Flash 10 from the Adobe website.

Issue: AV by AIM Issues on Google Chrome
For Chrome users, an additional step is necessary to ensure the highest quality when using AV by AIM and it is related to Flash 10.3 beta. Follow these four steps to set up Flash on Chrome:

  1. Access the Chrome plugins by typing "chrome://plugins/" (without quotes) into the URL field of the web browser. Click "Enter" to continue.

  2. Click the "Details" link, which appears in the top right-hand corner of the page.

  3. Find Flash from the list of installed Chrome plugins, typically located at the top of the page.

  4. Ensure the newest version of Flash 10.3 Beta is installed and enabled on your browser. Look at the field titled "Version," and verify the numbers begin with 10.3. If they don't, disable all versions listed by clicking "Disable," and head to the Adobe website for a download of the Flash 10.3 software.
