One of the coolest features in all of IM is the status message, which can serve as a marquee for how you are feeling today, favorite song lyrics or a place to express yourself through text. You can also use the status message a means to convey whether you are available to talk or not.

To set your status message, first select “Messenger” on the top Yahoo! toolbar, then “Availability,” then “My Status Message” from the adjacent menu.
