By February 28, 2013

Stumped as to which instant messaging client is better? When comparing Nimbuzz and Fring, there are a multitude of similarities but only a few differences.

As a personal preference, I like Nimbuzz better, but both offer the same stellar commitment to quality and the features you want at your fingertips, including:

  • Free calls to other users of the same app
  • Cheap phone calls to any phone using their paid services
  • Group and one-on-one instant messaging

Where Fring might be a more popular choice for mobile users is in its free group video capabilities, allowing you and three other friends to video chat simultaneously.

But. Nimbuzz upends Fring when it comes to social media integration. In addition to chatting with other Nimbuzz users from your smart devices, including Android, iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Phone, Nokia, and Java, you can also connect with Facebook Chat, Yahoo Messenger and Gtalk users, too.

Even better, that same network of friends is available all on one contacts list, accessible even on your computer's desktop. Fring, meanwhile, does not offer a desktop IM client.
